Italiannies @ The Curve 2022 Review

We were quite happy with the food for the taste (I guess due to the way it is cooked), and would love to come back to try others. 

The ambience 

Located on the ground floor at West Courtyard @ The Curve,this Italian-theme restaurant nestled at the corner end of the row. 

We didn't intent to dine-in here at first. But the food choice in IPC shopping center, IKEA is a bit bland. So we ended up walking here to try something new.  (Actually , I wanted to dine-in at the IKEA restaurant, but it was too crowded. )

I like their interior design here. Rustic ambience paired with wooden tables and chairs from the 70/80 eras . and the wooden beams, along with the graphic on the wall creating the vintage, cozy (air-conditioned) and quiet (during the non-dining hour)

The pizza bar at the entrance. 

I like that they put generous amount of cheese on the pizza. Making is a pleasant experience to watch. Hahahahaha. 

This poster definitely captured my attention.

The food 

I was quite delighted to find out that The warm , crusty bread infused with herbs (or pepper) was serve as a complimentary started. 

A complimentary warm-crusty bread served with olive oil and balsamic vinegar while waiting for the main course. 

Not sure it was the pepper or the herbs that alleviate the awesomeness of the bread. It tasted so good even without olive oil and balsamic vinegar. 

Vegetali Aglio E Olio Pepperoconi Rm 23.90 

I was craving for Aglio Olio. So I had this vegetarian Aglio Olio. Having to have too much of Asian food which is carbohydrate and protein loaded. This aglio olio from Italian restaurant delighted me with quite generous amount of green including broccoli , capsicium and carrot. 

This give me a good impression and that I would love to dine-in more to try other food, because I want to find out if other non-vegetarian food is also as variety / balanced like their pasta. I mean during the pregnancy, I want to have vegetable and fruit intake too.

Creamy Mushroom Soup Rm 12.90 

Instead of ordering their beverage which cost RM 10-12, I opt for mushroom soup instead. Also , it was richly infused with herbs, which make it so different so the usual creamy mushroom soup that you had in Malaysia! Both WS and I approved of the mushroom soup. 

Italian Butcher Rm 39.90 

Pomodoro sauce, Mozzarella & Parmesan Cheese, Onion Jam, smoked turkey slics, grilled marinated chicken, beef pepperoni, beef meatball, smoked beef streakgy, arugula and balsamic glaze. the way, I don't see the beef meatball. 

Arugula is delicious raw, and it can be used as a healthy add-on topping for pizza, nachos, sandwiches, and wraps. It can be served as a side salad with nothing more than a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil, salt, and pepper.

Husband /WS : The pizza was slightly above average. 

Maple: OKay la, the pizza was baked to prefection, you see the amount of the cheese on their crust, savoury with variety of meat choices, except that I don't see the beef meatball. 

Overall experience

As this is not usual pizza and pasta that we had. We were quite intrigue to try their other food on their menu. I personally also like their rustic ambience. It was a great dining experience and the portion of the good is quite fulfilling, balanced and variety. 

WS said he would like to come back again for the food is quite worthy of their price (of what they offer). For me likewise...I not sure how they cook their aglio olio ...their oil is so fragrant, yet I don't see much garlic when served. 

We both were like...yea, we order the right food. Like you can't go wrong by ordering  pizza and pasta in Italian restaurant.

So I was pleased to find out this super valued Lunch combo on their website. So pelased I decided to paste their lunch combo menu here instead of their link.

You can find more from the Menu link below here. Having to try their ala-carte menu, this lunch combo is very attractive to me because of their price and I am quite anticipate for their other food.  Also, it only cost Rm 6.90 instead of Rm 11 for their soup of the day, which is quite a valued-combo. 

Would love to drop by to try their baked-fish Marinara. 
(I have tried their aglio-olio, now wanting to try the Marinara, pomodoro , alfredo and carbonara and mac& cheese. A pasta lover here! )

There is a slight different in the menu. For example , for Fresh fruit juice ... It has only the options of Watermelon and pineapple in I-City, but it has extra option which is honey dew for the Curve branch. Managed to find this difference cause I am currently a pregnant woman who would like to avoid pineapple and watermelon juice.

First trimester :Food Aversion

 This post was written on 12th Feb (Week 7 Day 2 )

What should I eat?

I keep on thinking this today. what should I eat?

Fast food....too oily, even the though of it makes me feel nausea already (Food aversion)

Porridge----I love it! I want eat something mushy, and easy to swallow and flavoursome! has a lot of carbo....

Asam Laksa....I want! but my mom said the Asam in the Asam laksa is as 'sharp' as the pineapple....

After round of thought...  I come accross THIS eating guide

But occasionally, I still eat oily food .like butter kaya croissant from Thong Kee Cafe ..until this few day (around 12th Feb) , I started to have food aversion towards the oily food.

Trust me, if you feel that the photos of 5 mins later is ugly. My facial expression when my stomach is upset is even uglier, twitching, deformed.... You just don't feel right doing anything. 

I am not sure if I am the only one who experience this. My sense of taste/smell towards oily food is more sensitive now.


should I say oily food that is not fresh from oven / being staying for few days would exude the oily taste (which I have never detected prior pregnancy), but I can smell it now , when the food is brought near to my nose.

and the oily taste is disgusting, making me nausea.

One of the oily food that I personally like a lot is the fried fish cracker from my kampung (hometown) , KEROPOK. Keropok is crunchy , salty and flavoursome. I could literally gobble up the whole bottle in less than 2 days before pregnancy.

But now.... as I am typing this, I could feel that my stomach is grumbling already, hahahaa. I can't even finish this whole bottle in a week.

Feeling want to vomit , nausea at heavy caffeine too. I can still drink milo at the moment (Milo contains caffein, but in a very little amount)

Also, I love to eat aglio olio. the flavoursome taste of burnt garlic with spice and chillies is really wholesome. I went to have aglio olio on 11st Feb (Week 7 Day 1 ).

At first, i was delighted at the visual feasting on it. My brain and tongue like it a lot too. Soon, immediately after I finished eating, stood up to walk away from the cafe, ...the moment I stood up.....

It was like the start of nightmare. My stomach was heavily bloated. I had this at 12pm (coupled with sour tomato soup and spice-seasoned grilled chicken breast)...Yea, quite a lot.

For the first time in my life. I was feeling extremely FULL (or maybe it is bloating) , until the night time 12am. I didn't feel like want to sleep because the stomach was upsetting me, I was unsure what to do.

I like to eat cake like lemon cheese cake, crepe and so on. Not only it was a aesthetic visual to look at, it pumps up your happy hormone like endrophin. But again, around week 7 again. I had craving for cake.

But it didn't feel right the moment that I try on it. Guess because it is CREAMY, intentionally overly-MAN-MADE SWEET. Again, it sent my stomach bloated again. ¯\_(ใƒ„)_/¯

Which type of food attracts you more? and guess which one is my preference now? It is the plain looking ABC Chiense Porridge. I add on ginger when I cook this. The taste of ginger just make everything feel so right. My stomach thanks me for having ginger, haha.

The simple ABC porridge has less processed food, make it easier for my stomach to digest.
Also, the carrot is sweet! (My sense of taste become more sensitive during this period, sometime my tongue would go numb from eating too sweet, or too salty. THe taste of carrot is so natural and feel just perfect! )
The potato tastes fulfilling, tasty but not overwhelming
the minced pork provides the protein.

It is warm, not oily (wont make me nausea). So it is just the right food to eat!!

So, what's the solution that could comfort my grumbling / upset stomach?


Don't belittle simple soul food like this. This is the stir fried salted fish & pork belly. (Most importantly it has GINGER! ) My stomach was so happy to eat this. Feel good and satisfying!

2. Lemon
Feeling refreshing and alive whenever I have this. I would prefer lemon water over the plain water. Somtimes, overnight plain water makes me nausea too.

3. Udo Oil
do oil is a plant-based extracted oil. It doesn't make me feel nausea. But TBH, this is not the solution to relieve upset stomach.

I recommend this because so far this is the only oil that I want feel nausea looking and smelling and tasting eat.

Udo Oil is has Omega 3,6,9 which mean you don't need to eat salmon or egg everyday to get Omega 3,6,9 for the brain development of the growing foetus.

Half of the Omega-3 intake gets burned for energy. 10-20% per day is converted into EPA/DHA. Taken here. 

Sometimes, I would also mix the udo oil with lemon water.

Also, if you have a plant-based diet practitioner (vegetarian/vegan), I would suggest you to take

Plant-based beverage mix which is iron-rich. I was still a vegetarian during my first pregnancy. As you know, there might not be enough of iron intake from vegetable alone during the pregnancy. Perhaps, my baby woudn't gone if I monitor closely on my Thyroid function and with the sufficient iron intake.

I didnt drink this at the moment, as it is quite costly. Perhaps I would like this during the second trimester, cause throughout the research, the need of iron to make healthy heamoglobin (red blood cell) is in high demend during the second trimester.


I heard this quote from this video. All women's body are made for Pregnancy .(quote appears around 5.17 min ) As I am/was developing the food aversion. I started to understand why. My stomach will immediately went on RIOT with I eat the wrong food.

And literally, your stomach literally just take like 5 mins to response (Very immediate)

I mean during the ordinary time, when I am not pregnant, the signs might come out few hours later, or only on the second day. But the signal given when eating the wrong food is so immediate. LITERALLY.
As I am typing this, my stomach is still grumbling cause I had few pieces of Fried keropok just now.

Guess what I am going to do now is just to enjoy, rest more, eat the right food.

Some weird habits/changes that I experienced in the first trimester

 1.I tend to spit a lot from Week 9 onwards. 

Like 10 mins ago, I spit a little, but it was roughly 5 times in  6 mins!  Thank god, I am not the only one after researching it from google. So what I did is to prepare an empty cup , put it next to my working desk, and spit whenever I wish to. 

Sounds gross? It is. But I can't help and I feel like want to vomit or irritated if I didn't spit. 

What causes excessive spitting in pregnancy?

It's thought to be caused by pregnancy hormones changing how your salivary glands work. The nerves that control salivation are more stimulated than usual. Salivating too much often goes hand in hand with nausea (pregnancy sickness) and severe sickness (hyperemesis gravidarum).
What can I do about excess saliva during pregnancy?
Tell your provider that you have excessive saliva so she can help you identify and treat any underlying problems, such as nausea, vomiting, or heartburn. There may not be much else you can do, although some women report that the following measures help:
  • Brush your teeth, and use mouthwash several times a day.
  • Eat small, well-balanced meals often, and don't eat a lot of starchy food.
  • Drink plenty of water. Keep a water bottle handy, and take small sips frequently. (This also helps you stay hydrated.)
  • Swallow any excess saliva if you can. Also, try sucking on hard candy or chewing sugarless gum. This won't make you produce less saliva, but it will make it easier to swallow the saliva you do produce.
  • If swallowing your saliva makes you feel nauseated, spit out the excess into a tissue, washcloth, or cup.

2. Bleeding gums

Also started from Week 8 Day 5 like that. The gums bleed every time when I just normally use my toothbrush to scrape and food stain and it bleed. Then the next thing I feel is the blood taste in my mouth.

2.Bleeding gums  

Changing hormone levels—the culprit behind most pregnancy symptoms—can increase blood flow to your nostrils and leave your gums feeling swollen and sensitive, especially during the second trimester. In a recent study, Dutch researchers found that bleeding gums are one of the most common oral changes pregnant women face.

I asked my dentist friend. She said that this is caused by the hormonal change. 

Bleeding gums shows the gum in inflamed. Just brush more on the bleeding gum area to reduce the plaque formation

Generally gum inflamed is more common during pregnancy due to hormone changes. Nevertheless, don't worry as the bleed from gum is usually not significant

Can gargle with salt water too. Just maintain the gum hygience more will do.

3.White discharge in the urine

Dont worry, it is completely normal.  

Almost all women have more vaginal discharge in pregnancy. This is quite normal and happens for a few reasons. During pregnancy the cervix (neck of the womb) and vaginal walls get softer and discharge increases to help prevent any infections travelling up from the vagina to the womb. Increased levels of the hormones progesterone can also make you produce more fluid.

Increased discharge is a normal part of pregnancy, but it’s important to keep an eye on it and tell your doctor or midwife if it changes in any way.

I feel that burping makes me feel extra better. It also lifts my mood. 
It is either I spit or I burp that make me feel better. But burping is so much better that spit!   

Burping eases my bloating, nausea and making me relax! 
My frequency of burping is not as frequent so it will not distrub my daily routine.  

Food/Healthy juice that I have taken during the pregnancy

 1. Milk

Surprisingly, I like to drink milk a lot during my pregnancy. My doctor friends also said that I can in fact drink 3 cups of milk per day if dont want to have calcium supplment. It tastes good and It won't give me the nausea feeling.  

Sometimes, at night, if I am hungry before sleeping, i would also have a glass of milk to sleep. 

I prefer to take milk during the lunch or the time after. Because, I am on hormone-replacement treatment (taking levothyroxine), which calcium would interfere with the absorption of thyroid hormone T4 . So doctor suggested that I should have taken my levothyroxine 4 hours before any calcium consumption.  

2.  Salus Floradix Iron 

While searching for the picture of Salus Floradix Iron, I came across this pricing from Eu Yan Sang. 

So far , the price that I have surveyed. 

BHB official side - RM 180 
Healthlane Pharmacy - Rm 171 (member price)
Eu Yan Sang - Rm 162  
Price is true as per 20th Feb 2022

However, the packaging from Eu Yan Sang is slightly different from the BHB official site. Both are from Salus. I guess it is because of the old and new packaging?   

The main reason that I need to mention about this Floradix Iron is because I would like to share a funny annecdote.  I have been drinking Floradix twice only to realise that I drink it the wrong way. LOL 

First time:  I drink it after the meal. (It should be taken empty stomach for best absorption)

Taken this excerpt from BHB official site (BELOW)

 Floradix® Formula is best to be consumed half an hour before meal. Juices are better absorbed on empty stomach. Besides, taking Floradix® Formula before meal can avoid certain substances in food that interfere with iron absorption (tannin in coffee / tea, calcium and milk protein in milk, phytate in grains / legumes, phosphate in carbonated drinks).

Second time: As the taste of the Floradix iron really smells like iron, literally like  the metal Iron. so It is a bit disgusting to drink at.  The first time I drank it, I skipped 2 days before I have my next Floradix iron, cause it is making me nausea. 

Knowing that it would make me nausea, i drink the Floradix iron with MILK, because it was so shock to drink with milk. So smooth, and the iron taste gone away immediately. 

Soon, after I bottomed up my glass of milk. Some instinct in me ask me to google for the right way of taking iron. Only do I realise that ,I cannot drink Floradix with milk . They are just like enemy. LOL. 

It should not be taken with any calcium food, and food like milk, yogurt are rich in calcium or any other calcium fortified food. Ai yo.... 

Third time: I had it after meal too. Normally, i will also eat my other supplement after the meal. 

I had Floradix after dinner, next, my  muscular memory action prompt me to take the supplement right after the meal, one of them was Calcium pill. I was teaching that time. halfway through, The thought suddenly struck me. I was reminded that Floradix is not to drink with calcium, then I immediately spit out the calcium pill. 

I couldn't stop laughing at the action. Ai yo....  I have drunk it 3 times, and I drank it the wrong way. LOL> 

Some doctors suggest taking a vitamin C supplement or drinking orange juice with your iron pill. This can help the iron absorb into your body. Drinking 8 ounces (240 milliliters) of fluid with an iron pill is also OK. Guess if I want, I can drink with Floradix along with oranges.  

Forth time: 20th Feb 2022

I still taking the Floradix Iron although the smell of iron is a bit disgusting, but I can tolerate it much better now. In fact, the fruit juice extract in the Floradix is quite sweet. 

I drank it becauseI have spent like Rm 171 to buy the 500ml of floradix, so really don't want to waste the money, 

Also,  the main reason is...the moment that I think about growing festus need to take a lot of iron to make blood. As they are growing fast now. I feel that the need for iron is quite in demand, towards and during the second trimester, so ...I just drink it la. 

My dear baby, if you see this in the future.You should know that I have done a lot to give you the best growing environment. You must grow healthily!

Pregnancy to do list 2nd-3rd Trimester & after Giving birth

 Can do it both Second or Third trimester 

1. To think about the baby's name. 
Do it after you know the baby's gender or  you can also do it after the baby comes out. In our case, we are just too excited, and keep playing it in our mind only, haahaha. 

My husband, WS even think 2 steps further. He also standby the second word of the chinese name so that the next bro/sis can use the Chinese name in the second word. 

Second trimester  

To buy list in Second trimester -Optional, not compulsory

1. Stretch mark cream - from week 13 

2. U share pillow- from week 24 

3. Maternity clothes - one piece dress, maternity legging , I bought it from Shein. 

1. Brazilian waxing 

The growth of the baby (embryo) in the first trimester is not so visually noticable, I came across the idea of trimming my pubic hair because every night my baby will say good night to it's daddy. So it is a little not-so-decent to see my pubic hair. 

My lao gong doesn't really mind, I mean after all it is so natural to have pubic hair at the pubic area. For me, I am a little aesthetically demanding. so I feel that is it not so decent to show baby bump and the pubic hair will come into view for sure. 

Also, another reason that I wanna trim my pubic hair is because... (Although I am only in my first trimester)

Whether you perform C-section or natural birth, you will still eventually need to shave the pubic hair or easier delivery esp for the normal labour. Your vagina opening will dilate (become wider) , so it is a bit of blocking to see the pubic hair then. 

So I might as well just make sure it is clean from the first trimester la. 

Update: I called my Usual Bubble Gum Wax centre to enquire about Brazilian Wax. There are 2 types of wax: Soft wax and hard wax. After discussion and consideration, I did not go for Brazilian Wax in second trimester, because as much as I trust my therapist, my therapist also mentioned that I might feel more pain the usual. So I don't want to take the risk la. 

I am still not sure if I would trim the pubic hair myself or go for it again in the third trimester after week 35. Let's wait until the time then. 

2. Oral care 

the KK (KLinik Kesihatan Ibu and Anak-anak nurse does advise me to go and ask for appointment in Klinik Pergigian too, but I forgot to get the appointment, been staying in KK for 2 hour , )

3. Pregnancy insurance 

Some parents would buy it after the baby has come out. It is a matter of choice actually. I personally feel that it is important to get maximum protection so I proceed to buy the pregnancy protection insurance, 

Some infor about Pregnancy insurance

1. The policy will be automatic converted to baby's medical card after the pregnancy 

2.You dont have to wait for 30 days to buy medical card after the birth 

3. You get pregnancy protection, of course, when I buy the plan, I did not wish that I would get any of them. 

You might get rejected too if you have health complication like GDM(Gestational Diabetes Mellitus)

4. Baby will get protection from Congential Diseases 

4. Plan for after delivery

Do you want to continue working? or

Working as a Work from home mum ? OR 

Become a full time mummy?  

It is better that you plan earlier. 

Honestly, I was (and still am) a bit blur and clumsy and less forward thinking during my pregnancy. 

Until my boss asked me about my delivery leave, I then only have the effort to plan carefully about my after confinement plan. It could be easy or hard. Depends on your plan. Btw, here's a little view of my 

after delivery + career planning. 

5. Going for a vacation 

It is not that you can travel in the third trimester. You can still travel in the thrid trimester if you got the green light from your Obsterician. Generally, it is safer to travel in the second trimester as I imagine there would be more limitation on activity, diet etc in the 3rd trimester. This is just based on my body condition anyway.  

For example, Airasia does not allow the flight to States from  28-34 weeks 

Below is the excerpt  taken from Airasia 

1. Pregnancy up to 27 weeks (inclusive): Except on flights to/from the United States, Guest must sign AirAsia / AirAsia X Limited Liability Statement at the time of check-in to absolve AirAsia / AirAsia X against any liabilities arising there from.
2. Pregnancy between 28 weeks to 34 weeks (inclusive): Except on flights to/from the United States, Guest must:

  • Submit an approved doctor's medical certificate.
  • Submit a doctor's medical certificate confirming the number of weeks of pregnancy and the certificate shall be dated not more than thirty (30) days from either the scheduled outbound or the scheduled inbound flight departure date as the case may be.
  • Sign AirAsia / AirAsia X Limited Liability Statement at the time of check-in to absolve AirAsia / AirAsia X against any liabilities arising there from.

3. Pregnancy 35 weeks and above: carriage not permitted on AirAsia / AirAsia X.

Why would I suggest the vacation during the 2nd trimester? 

Again this is very subjective. I personally think that I would have less time to travel after the baby is coming out. Also , I would prefer to go it, before busily juggling between work and baby. 

However, if you job/schedule around you to continue travelling after baby is coming out. I jealous you... No la...It's my choice anyway. 

Third trimester 

1.Pack for hospital bag 

And put it in the car 

It is best to seperate the mommy bag and baby bag 

2. To train lao gong to help me to wash hair

I want to sit down and wash hair, then lao gong helps me to blow dry my hair too. 

3. Tour about the hospital that you will have your labour

Know which exactly point to stop in case of the sudden water break, or contraction. Along with all the necessary doc like IC, appointment, pink book etc. 

a. Can also standby the hospital bag in the car already. 

4. Look for Baby care center 

5. Stricter diet plan (this is for me only)

Because I tend to eat loosely during the second trimester, but I told myself, I will eat stricter diet during the third trimester. 

By right, your baby is growing every day during the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd timester. So you should eat healthily no matter which trimester. So The above is my personal plan only. 

6. Make room/drawer/wardrobe to put baby's stuff

This upmarket restaurant located in the KLcity center  is famous for their wagyu beef. But I am not a friend of Wagyu nor beef.  

2. Go back to Gym - Aeriel Yoga - Jan 2023 

3. Learn Pilate if possible - March 2023 (Isitll have one lesson with Sheer)

4. Vacation at the beach  : Redang , Redang, Tenggol Island, Royale Chulan Cherating, Sabah Sipadan

2. Manicure - maybe can skip this, since I am going to nurse a newborn baby
