Aug 2025 : Pushing a baby out.

First of all, thank you to my husband for donating his sperm. hahaah.

 No lah, he does more than that. I also want to thank my mom, my parents in law for taking care of me when labour is approaching. 

My husband is also the one tolerating with me when the contraction happens, and I took deep breaths and asked him to comfort me. 

2 days before giving birth 

5/8/2025 tues 

Day time go to PPUM Level 4 - Pre-assessment centre 

For cervical examination

Bloody show - mucus from cervix 

Fake contraction

No dilation 

The real birth day. 

7/8/2025 Thurs 

Wed night already have regular contractions about one hour once. It’s the night…that I experience so much contraction and can’t sleep well. 

But I was happy because i know labour is approaching, and I manage the pain by taking deep breath. 

Woke up around 6am to get ready since my contraction also quite painful. ...and we also have been secretly waited for 7am to get up and go to hospital to prepare for the labour. 

The timeline 

7am - depart to PPUM

7.45am - Go to basement car park together. Walked from car park to Level 2, getting ready for admission. I told the staff nurse that I already have regular contractions.   (Yea, no need for IOL - Induction of Labour)

8am ish - Check in at Level 6 Prenatal ward. - still have have phone. 

I slept coz too tired already. Someone perform cervical examination. 

10am - Dilation 3cm already. 

12-2pm :  Husband visited me at visiting hour. 

1.30pm - the contraction is progressing, more frequently contraction I can’t bear it anymore. The nurse gave me a painkiller (not epidural) at my butt there. 

The nurse also explained, the painkiller wont stop the pain completely. After injection, I can feel the contraction, because the contraction is progressing. but very sleepy.

Checked in to Level 6 before contraction opens at 4cm. 

In case i need any drip. 

5pm - Dilation 4cm already. Called my husband , because I can go to labour ward with my husband! I am so happy that I get to be with my husband! 

(My husband was already at labour ward when i was sent to labour ward)

5.30pm - Epidural then break my water . WS saw my reflection of breaking water sac. Doctor said ready for fully dilated 10cm then can push. 

THis is not me kissing to the camera. It is me trying to manage the pain from the regular contraction by taking deep breath IN and OUT. 

With CTG and Blood pressure always on the check. 

6pm - Nurse called my husband , can prepare for final push. Buy clear juice for me. Coz I have to fasting and yet need to have energy to push. 

6pm - I was given an injection… not sure if it is oxytocin , estimated will dilate 1cm per hour. 

In between - doctor and mid-wife enter to teach me how to push during the active labour stage. 

7.20pm - Dilate 9cm already, maybe can push at 8.20pm 

8.20pm - come in and check. Practise pushing for the first time. 

9.30pm - already 10cm, ask me to try to push. But I don’t feel the sensation. Wait for one hour, wait until the baby is moving further down since mother doesn’t know how to push. 

While waiting, some doctors also come in to empty my bladder. They simply inserted the tube into my vagina, then use fingers to press on …I guess is bladder. While they were pressing on my bladder, actually I barely feel anything, I mean I don’t feel the urge to pee at all. They said this is normal because I was on epidural, so it’s normal that I don’t feel anything pee urging. That’s why they manually discharge my urine, wow. 

CLIMAX 

10.30pm - Party time.  Dr Khairul, the main doctor entered and I  start to push. 

(As she enters, the whole labour room was then filled with a party of doctors and mid-wife. About 7-10 of them...including one male doctor. )

I ask one of the Chinese female young doctor to put her finger at my vaginal so that I know how to push out the finger. 😂😂😂 

Then I  keep coughing as I don’t have energy to push. 

When contraction comes, then I had to take a long breath

…hold for min 10second, but I hold for 6/7 seconds like that only… then continue for the next round of push.

During the most final push , I push until cough and the saliva all spit to the Chinese female doctor.  Omg. so sorry doctor , in case if you are reading this, I dont do it on purpose. At the time, I only manage to focus on pushing...without seeing the progress of baby....  

Then the main doctor said: baby is pushed downward whenever I cough.  

At this time, Daddy can already see the baby’s head from the outside. 

Then continue push 

Head is fully out.  Rest and waited for the next wave of  contraction

Final push : Shoulder and the rest of baby’s body is out. 

When the baby is completely out...i not sure if I heard his cry or not. But he is full of blood. and then head elongated for stuck at the birth canal for 20 mins?  

With the umbilical cord attached to his belly, the nurse (I think) put the baby on my breast. then the baby naked... cried out loud. I was suddenly so energerized for awhile and so surprised that i give birh to a real human. Someone whom I have been looking forward to for 9 months...

Hello baby, welcome to the world! 

WOw , the feeling is so surreal and so unbelievable. 

Thank you for the party of the dedicated doctos, mid-wife and para doctors who teach me and guide me how to push! Thank you for bring him alive to me safety to this world. 

After someone clean the blood and wrapped him ady. She put the baby onmy breast again. 

Immediately or instinctively, my baby ....even with eyes closed ... gave my nipple a loud and hard sucks... even with eye closed, it was so damn accurate he maanged to suck it on the nipple, but aerola, but upper breast or any other area. 

(Even now at confinement center, most of times, he needs to find for the nipple to suck). 

That first time of sucking 

The very nature instinct.... I still remember the loud and hard sucking until now...

PART 2 

And after Stage 2 of labour. (After baby is fully out, while baby was still lying on me…and both WS and I were still in the joy of our new born)

The doctors continue to the delivery process. At this point, I hardly feel any pain, and contraction already. I also forgot that is it me that I push out the placenta , or they just wait for the contraction, and push out the placenta by pulling the attached umbilical cord. (Since I couldn’t see what is happening underneath of me)

I guess what is happened after active labour is 

- Delivery of placenta 

- Cutting of the umbilical cord (Actually I wish that my husband is the one who cut it, but i forgot to tell them already)

- Checking my perineal area. Stitching.

Immediately after the sucking and the excitement, I felt lethargic and sleepy. 

My husband waited until 1am ish with me. I could see him grinning from ear to ear. Holding baby like his hand is not tired at all. (Maybe I was just too tired after pushing)

and that's the end of my SVD story

I am so proud of myself for delivery it through normal delivery, not through ceasarean delivery. 

If there's one thing I wish I can do to improve, I would have LEARNING HOW TO PUSH Properly.
